Libra season
I am. You are. We relate.
The only sign in the zodiac symbolised by an object instead of a creature, because balance was never going to be a beast.
The meaning
What is Libra season about?
Balance between self and others, starting with self.
Libra season runs from around 23 September to 22 October, when the Sun moves through the sign of the scales. Ruled by Venus, it is a season of relating: of love, beauty, fairness and the art of balancing what you need with what others need.
I am
Know your worth
Your values, your needs, your boundaries. Balance starts with knowing what you weigh.
You are
Honour theirs
Seeing the other person clearly, without shrinking to make room for them.
We relate
Hold both
The scales don’t ask you to choose. They ask you to hold both, honestly.
The muse
The art of relating: Libra season as your muse
Libra embodies the scales, a symbol of its deep connection to justice and equality. Yet Libra’s energy, guided by Venus, goes deeper.
It’s about discerning what truly matters to you, and striking that delicate balance between self and others. It’s about knowing your worth, and making sure your relationships, finances and desires line up with that inner value.
Balance isn’t keeping everyone happy.
It’s keeping yourself in the equation.
The way through
How Libra helps you find your way in the world
Libra finds its way through relationship. Where Virgo season asked you to tend the details alone, Libra season asks you to bring yourself back into the room: to notice who you become around other people, and whether you like her.
The house where Libra sits in your chart shows where you’re learning to weigh things fairly, including yourself. And when the scales tip, Libra season is a reminder that you can always rebalance. Explore the four worlds you move through as you do.
Nine questions. Nine muses. Find the one who is showing you the way.
The etymology
The true meaning of Libra
Libra is Latin for “pound” or “balance”. In ancient Rome, a libra was a unit of weight, roughly a third of a kilogram. It became the forerunner of the pound, which is exactly why both “lb” and the British pound sign, £, still trace back to this one Latin word.
Libra is the only sign represented by an object rather than a living being.
The ruler
Venus, the daytime ruler of Libra
Venus rules two signs, Taurus and Libra. In traditional astrology she is the day ruler of Libra and the night ruler of Taurus: in Taurus she is earthy and sensual, in Libra she is social, airy and focused on how we relate. Read more about Venus.
Here, she calls you to seek harmony, enjoy life’s pleasures and understand the transformative power of desire, finding beauty not only in what’s visible, but in your actions, your values and your relationships.
The season
Libra energy and themes
If you spent Virgo season being solitary, you’ll want to get social now. Libra is the season for flirting: with people, with ideas, with possibility. It’s your time to shine as the enchanting host, the graceful negotiator, the charismatic connector.
But amid all this charm, stay anchored in your truth. Libra’s social pull can tempt you to seek approval at the expense of your authenticity, to over-compromise, and to lose yourself in the quest for harmony.
Honour others, yes.
And fiercely honour yourself.
In the Southern Hemisphere
Spring
In Australia and across the south, Libra season arrives with spring: lengthening days, blossom, and a natural pull to open the windows and step back out into the world. In the north, it’s the first breath of autumn.
The shadow
In Libra season, watch out for
The check-in
Are your scales tipping?
Libra’s shadow is quiet. It rarely looks like a problem. It looks like being easy-going, accommodating, the one everyone can rely on.
Tick any that sound like you
You said yes this week when you meant no.
You rehearsed a hard conversation, then didn’t have it.
You know everyone else’s preferences better than your own.
You chose peace over honesty, and felt it later.
You waited for someone else to decide.
Three or more? Your scales are tipping towards everyone else. This season is your invitation to put yourself back on them.
