GlobalWoman acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country across Australia, with deep respect for the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, the land on which GlobalWoman lives, loves and learns.
We honour the resilience, wisdom, and sovereignty of First Nations Elders past and present.
GlobalWoman honours our ancestors, specifically the women who have come before us in our matrilineal line.
Wherever ‘GlobalWoman,’ ‘woman,’ or ‘muse’ are used, we speak to an expansive and inclusive definition of womanhood.
All women are welcome here; across all expressions, experiences and identities, including trans, genderqueer, non-binary and cis women.
The Matrilineal Line
The vision of GlobalWoman is to co-create a world that connects, champions and energises women across the globe to find their way in the world.
Finding my way in this wild world has been my life’s work.
It began in the western suburbs of Sydney, where I was surrounded by women carving out lives from the bedrock of patriarchy; shaping meaning with resilience, creativity and grit.
I saw the struggle up close, and I saw it wasn’t easy.
My great-grandmother, Margaret, left Ireland as a teenager to find her way in the world. She arrived in Adelaide, where her boat was shipwrecked. She and her sister survived and built a life in Australia, on land never ceded. She carried within her the hunger of exile and the power of reinvention.
From Margaret came Bridget.
From Bridget, Betty.
From Betty, eight children including myself and my sisters, Anne and Helen.
This is a lineage of survival, strength and storytelling.
Stepping into the Outer World
From the nuns who ran the Catholic schools I attended to the teachers who nurtured my love of learning.
From my college friends, Jane-Frances, Maureen, Liana, Therese and Teresa.
To the visionary Sister Enid, who led with courage.
Exploring India
To Osho and the seekers who, like me, found solace in the wild unknown.
To the women of India, for your colour, tenacity and entrepreneurial fire.
Exploring Astrology
Astrology, as I first encountered it, was a patriarchal blueprint that reduced women to the binary of Mother (Moon) and Mate (Venus).
I asked, as I had with the Bible: Where are the women?
I sought out the symbols that had been erased: Inanna, Lilith, Ishtar, Ceres, Pallas Athene, Juno, Vesta, Fortuna.
I learned that astrology is not fate, but rather a dialogue between mathematics and mythology, a language of cycles, choices and wild potential.
To the astrologers who shaped my path: Demetra George, Liz Greene, Bunny Hoopstar, Ezzie Spencer and many others.
To every woman who booked a reading with me, who stepped through the astrological portal, this is the frontline of reclaiming the story.
To Lilith, sovereign, untamed and whole.
Exploring Creativity
Each day, I ask: How will I be creative today?
Creativity is not just expression, it is survival, expansion and rebellion.
To the artists, writers and visionaries who have been my muses:
Tori Amos. Solange. Ursula Le Guin. Margaret Atwood. Maria Popova. Anaïs Nin. Fatima Bhutto. Patti Smith. Amrita Sher-Gil. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Amanda Palmer. Janelle Monáe. Isabel Allende. Lizzo. Michelle Marie McGrath. Julia Cameron.
This list is endless.
